Poetry is the language of the soul. Embedded in between words lies a whole new world that is yet to be explored. ‘Digantarachi Dhun’ by Ashlesha Mahajan is a collection of poems that is similar to Rubaai. Rubaaii’, a genre of Urdu nazm poetry, consists of four lines in which the first, second and fourth lines have rhyming words. Marathi poet, Madhav Julian, introduced Omar Khayyam’s ‘Rubaaii’ in the Marathi language. Also, prominent Hindi author, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was fascinated by Omar Khayyam’s translated ‘Rubaaii’ poems and wrote the famous poetry book, ‘Madhushala’, in 1934-35.
