Mr Ram Naik was born in a drought-affected remote area of the state of Maharashtra. He took up commerce and completed his B. Com degree after which he decided to pursue law as a profession by opting for an L. L. B degree from K. C. College. His search for a job began after his graduation.
His first job was at the Accountant General’s office as a senior clerk (1954-1957). As for his second job, he worked at Kheera Steel Works as a Company Secretary. He even worked at a consultancy for a brief period of time. However, at the age of 35, he left his job to pursue his interest in social service and politics. He was successful in creating a political career for himself as a Member of Assembly and a Member of Parliament in Mumbai for 8 consecutive fruitful years. He felt that for a social worker to be an extremely renowned personality, the trait of transparency is quite imperative.
This line of thought inspired him to put forward his life’s experiences for public scrutiny. ‘Always keep walking and be active in all phases of your life’ was the main objective of his life. This perception inspired him in writing this book. After taking his leave from politics a few years ago, he is currently the 19th Governor of Uttar Pradesh at the age of 81.
