Born in August 1939, Anil Gandhi completed his MBBS in 1963 and MS in 1971. He undertook training and secured a Diploma in Colorectal Surgery from St. Marks Hospital, London in 1973-74. He balanced his practice along with his teaching commitments. He has taught at BJ Medical College, Pune, Tilak Ayurved College, Pune, DSHM College, Pune, and Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. He has been active in the research field and 16 of his Research Papers have been read at National and International Conferences. He has been Founder Chairman of `Adishakti Trust’ for Tribal Development and Education, and Trustee, Maharashtra Technical Education Society, Pune since 1984 and Chairman for 3 years. Dr Gandhi is a prolific writer and his published works in Marathi include Mana Sarjana (autobiography) – 2010, Dhanwantari Gharoghari (On Health) – 2011, Vichari Mana (Social Problems) – 2013, and Shodha Manacha (Short Stories) – 2013. Mana Sarjana has been translated into Gujarati and Hindi, and now English. His English publications include High-Tech Lifeline (Advanced Medical Technology and Treatment information for the layman) – 2014 and Brain The Mastermind.
Mana Sarjna has won the first prize at the Marathi Vangmay Parishad, Baroda- 2011, and Vichari Mana has won an award at the Marathi Vangmay Parishad, Baroda- 2013.
